Why not make tonight a Family Game Night?

Every Thursday night, my family and I have a family Game Night. We always play different games but sometimes we get really into a certain game and play it for the whole month. This month, my daughter is addicted to Monopoly. And let me just tell you now... she is hardcore. If I want to give up early and tell her that she won... she will have none of that. She must take every single dollar that I have and her Dad has before the game is officially over.

Tonight is another edition of our family game night, and once again, we will be playing Monopoly. But we also have a ton of other games that we play such as Trivial Pursuit Junior Edition, Memory, Sorry and Boom Boom Balloon just to name a few. We also play a lot of card games like Uno and Skip Bo.

When you have a family Game Night, you should always have a comfortable place for everyone to sit. No one can have fun if they are not comfortable. Snacks are always a fun thing to combine with family Game Night. We usually have some popcorn or some fruit. But on some occasions, we will splurge and order a pizza or some Chinese food. That can be messy with younger children, though, so always keep that in mind.

We have the new Monopoly that has the cat game piece. My daughter is in love with anything cat-related so we had to have it. And of course, she is the cat piece every time. So, tonight, it is me versus the cat.

Do you have a family game night? What games do you play?

  1. We love family game night! I have fond memories of game nights when I was a kid and now that my kids are getting older, I can pass that tradition on to them.

  3. We don't have as many family game nights now that my kids are teens. When we do, we almost always choose a board game.

  4. I was really surprised to see that the sale of game boards has doubled in the last 9 years. With our rising tech addiction I would have though that would have been reversed. So happy to see that it's not.

  17. We used to play Monopoly when I was a kid, and I was always the little dog. :)
We play games here, usually shorter than Monopoly though. My older two boys used to love it, but the younger two have a shorter attention span (they get that from their father <kidding). :)
